Starting with Midstate Energy, then expanding to Veregy, John is now the CEO of six award winning energy service companies (Midstate Energy, Urban Energy Solutions, CTS Group, Johnson Melloh Solutions, Dynamix Engineering and Dynamix Energy Services). As CEO, he has created a scalable culture of associate collaboration, innovation and process improvements, leading to year-over-year record growth and enhanced client relationships.


Beyond Veregy, John has held executive leadership positions with multiple Fortune 100 companies including Honeywell and United Technologies. Over his 31 years in the energy services industries, he has saved organizations billions, through energy saving projects both domestically and internationally.

With several years experience in the performance contracting industry, Clayton’s rich understanding of market cycles, staffing, technology and financial opportunities, positions him well as the CFO of Veregy. He is responsible for managing Veregy’s financial planning, forecasting, reporting, IT and Human Resources. Clayton is a graduate of the University of Denver.

Justin Rojas


As Vice-President, he has full P&L responsibilities of Southwest Sales and Operations. Justin brings 10 years of industry experience and expertise in complex technical roles, system designs, engineering, project estimation, and overall company leadership. In the last three years, he has successfully helped increase company revenue by over $100 Million.

Justin holds Lighting and Lighting Protection Certifications and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Grand Canyon University.

Vincent Esparza


After two decades with Fortune 100 companies, Vince brings vast marketing, management and IT experience to Veregy. Managing Veregy's nationwide marketing team, he is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of the organization’s comprehensive marketing and communication strategies. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Management from American University and is currently obtaining a Masters in Sustainability Management from Harvard University. 

Patrick Meier, CPA


Patrick is the Controller for Midstate Energy, LLC. As a financial leader, Patrick’s responsibilities include development of accounting practices, policies, and procedures, as well as oversight of project analysis and internal systems. Patrick is a Certified Public Accountant with an MBA from the University of Buffalo and a Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York.

Amy Flores


Amy is Midstate Energy’s Human Resources Director and Safety Manager. Amy has over 11 years’ experience in the construction and risk-management industries. Amy has completed professional education courses in employment law and human resources, she is also a National Center for Construction Education and Research certified training administrator, OSHA 500 Authorized Trainer, ICTP Proctor and Management Education Instructor. Under her safety management, Midstate Energy’s total recordable incident rates have been exceptional, with rates 50% lower than the national average.

Scott Conner


As the Southwest Operations Manager, his responsibilities include construction management, field coordination, and negotiating contracts with subcontractors. He has 34 years of experience in HVAC and electrical construction services, including project management and quality control program implementation. Scott’s education includes the Universal CFC License, OSHA 510 certification and multiple professional contracting licenses, as well as attendance at the State University of New York at Oswego.

Ron Stalica


As one of the original founders of Midstate Energy, Ron is passionate about building relationships. With over 25 years in the energy and construction field, Ron brings his skillset to the team by consulting with school districts, and municipalities throughout the Southwest. Most recently, he is working to expand the Texas markets.

Donovan Stevens


Donovan is also one of the original founders of Midstate Energy. Donovan brings a lifetime of knowledge in the Performance Contracting industry. He currently works with Municipalities and Governments in securing energy savings and optimizations for many communities across the Southwest.

Randy Falconer


Randy's strong relationships with Arizona School districts has led him to multiple school association accolades. He works directly with school leadership and their operations to educate and present consultative energy optimization strategies and solutions. Randy is a graduate of Western Michigan University.

Ben Madsen


Awarded twice by Peoria Unified School District, Ben brings consultative and collaborative energy solutions to school district leaders and operations managers throughout Arizona. He has successfully marketed ESCO projects for over a decade with millions saved in energy expenses. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toledo.


With 10 years of leadership experience in the energy field, John brings a strategic and value-driven mindset to all customer interactions. John’s extensive development, design, and operational capabilities have led to several award-winning energy projects in Arizona, and he continues to manage the strategy and growth of the company’s Solar and Energy Storage division. 


He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Professional Science Masters in Solar Engineering and Commercialization from Arizona State University. He is also a Certified Energy Manager (CEM).

John Mitman, CEM 

Tom Jennings, LEED

Tom J. brings over 28 years of sales’ achievements in multiple markets including: building automation systems, security, energy optimization programs and optimizing LEED buildings. Tom’s account management skills will support design team dynamics and the change management programs required for a successful ECM implementation. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in General Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Master of Science in Organizational Management from the University of Colorado, Denver.


Tom Emanuelson


Tom is Midstate Energy's first Engineer. As a founder of the organization he brings rich engineering solutions to client facilities and systems. Currently, he is leading development and support for pre-and post construction projects. He has more than 30 years experience in designing and constructing energy systems. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Branden Morhous, CEM


Branden is an Energy Engineer and works on developing initial project IGAs using surveys, complex spreadsheet analysis, modeling of building energy consumption using simulation software, and technical assessment. Branden provides further support for EPC project quality control, energy-efficiency measures, and Measurement & Verification of implemented projects. Branden holds a Bachelor of Engineering – Mechanical Engineering (Thermal-Fluids) from San Jose State University and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM).

Justin Rundle, PE, CEM, CCM, LEED-AP


Justin has broad construction knowledge and a comprehensive engineering background. Included in these 35 years of expertise is extensive design and operations knowledge regarding water and wastewater plants, this includes project development, capital placements and renewable energy products. Justin holds his MBA and MS from the University of Iowa, with his Bachelor’s from Iowa University. He is also a Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and Accredited Professional (LEED-AP).

Robert Coy, CALT, CLCP, LC, CEM


As an AEE awarded professional, with over 16 years of construction experience, specifically in lighting, he brings expert design and calculation knowledge to clients guaranteed energy savings projects. Rob holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Phoenix and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Lighting Certified and a Certified Lighting Controls Professional.

Don Calahan


Don is one of Midstate Energy’s senior project managers, and is responsible for overall project scope execution, subcontractor coordination, scheduling coordination, client communications, and project closeout. During his 30 years in the contracting industry, he has focused 17 years as a technical project manager. He is a veteran of the United States Navy and holds multiple professional certificates in leadership and project management.

Kathleen is one of Midstate Energy’s Marketing Associates. With over 20 years of marketing experience in consumer and B2B marketing, she develops marketing collateral and customized client proposals with a focus on the specific client needs. She also manages monthly conferences with a focus on new client projects. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University and Keller Graduate School of Management.

As one of Midstate Energy’s Project Managers, John keeps many projects organized and efficiently run.  In addition to project management, John is also an adjunct faculty at the East Valley Institute of Technology.  John is a proud graduate of Arizona State University.

Patrick is a Business Development Manager at Midstate Energy. Drawing from years of experience in construction and sales, Patrick manages and updates mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology projects.

Jacob is a Business Development Manager.  He uses his broad knowledge about construction to successfully gain and implement service contracts across the brand.  He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Phoenix.

Ryan Voitik


Ryan is a business development executive responsible for identifying prospective clients. He is active throughout the client onboarding process and focuses on implementing a clear strategy for the client. He is a graduate of the University of Denver and earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing.

Ed Farrell


As an account manager, Ed’s primary responsibilities includes partnering with clients as they engage with us in a performance contract. He focuses on contracts with governments and private industries to create a dynamic energy-efficient atmosphere through state-of-the-art products and services. Ed was also the mayor of Maricopa AZ and intricately understands the ins and outs of government and municipality needs. Ed attended both Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona.

Oscar Rangel


Oscar’s area of expertise includes over 28 years of energy industry experience working directly with facility management. For the past 13 years, he has worked with K-12, Local Government (Cities & Counties), Higher Ed. and Public Housing clients. Oscar graduated from Metropolitan State College in CO with a Bachelor of Science and an MBA from Regis University in CO.

Laksh Muchhal


Laksh is a Project Development Engineer, with a focus on solar and battery storage. His work includes providing on-site assessments of physical conditions, electrical systems, and interconnection opportunities. Laksh also gathers key project details such as utility data, facility profiles, site drawings, and system operation data. He earned his Professional Science Master’s in Solar Energy Engineering and Commercialization from Arizona State University and a Master of Technology in Nanotechnology from Amity University.

Shannon Roepke


Shannon works in project development and manages client relations, stakeholder interests, financial obligations, and quality control efforts. She is the primary driver of progress on a day-to-day basis and has managed upwards of 50 individual solar installations for the Urban Energy team. Shannon graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Communications, is a member of the globally accredited nonprofit Project Management Institute and is certified through the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners.

Chris Flores


Chris is responsible for the Southwest Service Department and is also Director of Energy Management Services. He implements, schedules and is responsible for quality control on all Energy Management Services projects that Urban Energy Solutions works on in the SW region. He also trains and mentors apprentices in the industry. He has attended both Arizona State University and Mesa Community College.
